Revenue Lost

The True Cost of Blocked Bays

Every minute an EV charger is blocked by an unauthorised vehicle is lost revenue and a frustrated customer.

Stop EV Bay Misuse in Its Tracks

EV charging bays only deliver value when they’re available for motorists who genuinely need to charge. Petrol and diesel vehicles occupying designated EV bays can prevent customers from accessing chargers, reduce charger utilisation and create a frustrating experience for EV drivers.

But unauthorised vehicles are only part of the problem. EVs can also occupy charging bays without actively charging or remain parked after charging has finished. EV Bay Protection continuously monitors how your charging bays are being used, helping you enforce the rules of your site and keep chargers available for genuine charging customers.

  • Prevent petrol and diesel vehicles using EV bays
  • Identify EVs parked without actively charging
  • Manage overstays after charging has finished
  • Keep chargers available and improve bay turnover

From vehicle detection to charging verification and enforcement, we protect EV bays around the clock.

Our technology monitors each protected bay, verifies charging activity and identifies misuse automatically.

1. Vehicle & Bay Detection

Overhead or wall-mounted AI cameras detect when a vehicle physically enters and occupies the EV charging bay.

2. Charging Status Verified

The system identifies the vehicle and, where charging integration is available, checks whether a genuine charging session has started.

3. Misuse Identified

Identifies non-EV vehicles, EVs that are not charging, and vehicles remaining beyond the permitted charging/stay period.

4. PCN Issued

If misuse is confirmed and the vehicle remains in breach after any configured grace period, a Parking Charge Notice is issued in accordance with the site's agreed parking terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

V Bay Protection helps keep electric vehicle charging bays available for drivers who are genuinely using the charging facilities. Our solution monitors EV bays and can identify misuse such as non-EV vehicles occupying charging spaces, vehicles that are not charging, and vehicles remaining beyond permitted stay periods.
Yes. The system can identify vehicles occupying designated EV charging bays and help detect unauthorised use by petrol and diesel vehicles, allowing the appropriate parking rules to be enforced.
Yes. Our system can identify when an EV is occupying a charging bay without actively charging. This can be determined through integration with the charging infrastructure or through our own monitoring and processing, allowing us to identify vehicles that are parked in EV bays but not plugged in or charging.
Yes. Our EV Bay Protection solution is designed to work alongside existing EV charging infrastructure and charging providers. Where integration is available, we can connect with charging data to verify whether a vehicle is actively charging. Where direct integration isn't available, our own monitoring and processing can still be used to identify EV bay misuse. We'll assess your existing setup and recommend the most suitable approach for your site.
There may be no upfront cost to the client. Subject to a site assessment, Countrywide Parking Management can supply, install and manage the required parking monitoring equipment as part of a fully managed EV Bay Protection solution.
Not necessarily. The solution can be tailored around the technology already available at the site. Where charger integration is available, charging-session data can provide an additional layer of verification. We can assess the existing infrastructure during the site survey and recommend the most appropriate setup.
