Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy

1. Policy Statement

Countrywide Parking Management Ltd is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly and with integrity. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, servitude and child labour in any form.

We are committed to ensuring that modern slavery does not exist within our business or supply chain and expect the same high standards from all suppliers, contractors, consultants and business partners.

This policy supports our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and reflects our commitment to protecting human rights.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All employees
  • Directors
  • Agency workers
  • Contractors
  • Consultants
  • Temporary staff
  • Volunteers
  • Suppliers and subcontractors
  • Anyone acting on behalf of Countrywide Parking Management Ltd

3. Our Commitment

Countrywide Parking Management Ltd will:

  • Conduct business honestly and ethically.
  • Comply with all applicable employment legislation.
  • Pay employees fairly and lawfully.
  • Never knowingly engage with organisations involved in modern slavery.
  • Promote equal opportunities and fair treatment.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful working environment.
  • Encourage staff to report concerns without fear of retaliation.
  • Continuously review our procedures to minimise modern slavery risks.

4. Supply Chain

We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist within supply chains.

To minimise these risks we will:

  • Work with reputable suppliers.
  • Assess suppliers where appropriate before entering into contracts.
  • Require suppliers to comply with all relevant employment legislation.
  • Expect suppliers to operate ethical recruitment and employment practices.
  • Review supplier relationships where concerns are identified.
  • Terminate relationships where serious breaches are discovered.

5. Recruitment

Countrywide Parking Management Ltd is committed to responsible recruitment practices.

We will:

  • Verify employees' identity and right to work in the UK.
  • Ensure employment is voluntary.
  • Never retain employee passports or personal identification documents.
  • Never require employees to pay recruitment fees.
  • Ensure all employees receive written employment contracts.
  • Pay wages directly into employees' chosen bank accounts.

6. Employee Responsibilities

All employees are expected to:

  • Remain alert to signs of modern slavery.
  • Report any concerns immediately.
  • Cooperate with investigations.
  • Complete any training provided.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action.

7. Identifying Modern Slavery

Examples of warning signs may include:

  • Workers appearing frightened or intimidated.
  • Individuals not in possession of their own identification documents.
  • Restricted freedom of movement.
  • Poor living or working conditions.
  • Signs of physical abuse or neglect.
  • Workers being controlled by another individual.
  • Individuals appearing unable to leave employment freely.

The presence of one indicator does not necessarily mean modern slavery is occurring, but concerns should always be reported.

8. Reporting Concerns

Anyone who suspects modern slavery within our business or supply chain should report the matter immediately to the Managing Director or HR/Management.

All reports will be treated seriously and investigated confidentially wherever possible.

Employees raising genuine concerns in good faith will not suffer any detriment for doing so.

9. Training

Where appropriate, Countrywide Parking Management Ltd will provide awareness training to employees and managers to help identify and report potential indicators of modern slavery.

10. Compliance

Failure by employees, contractors or suppliers to comply with this policy may result in:

  • Disciplinary action
  • Termination of employment
  • Termination of contracts
  • Removal from the approved supplier list
  • Referral to the relevant authorities where appropriate

11. Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if:

  • Legislation changes;
  • Business operations significantly change; or
  • A modern slavery risk is identified.
